"Terracotta kylix (drinking cup)"
Kylix datata circa. 510 a.C., firmata da Epiktetos.
Raffigura all’interno un komasta con skyphos (bicchiere profondo) e oinochoe (brocca).
Tra i primissimi artisti a figure rosse specializzati in kylikes, Epiktetos era uno dei più affermati. La facilità di esecuzione, combinata con l’elegante semplicità della forma e della decorazione, rappresenta la pittura vascolare greca nel modo migliore. È certamente intenzionale che lo skyphos sia molto più grande dell’oinochoe e che sia in equilibrio sull’avambraccio.
Reca un iscrizione in greco all’interno: Επικτετος εγρασφεν, per εγραφσεν.
